Liverpool defender Andy Robertson was escorted off the training pitch by physios as Scotland's preparations for Euro 2024 got underway in Germany.

The Scotland captain was able to walk from the field but had the nation's physio running over to him to check him out. Robertson entered the gym area of Scotland's base after becoming the second player of the session to suffer an issue, following forward Lawrence Shankland.

The pair will leave boss Steve Clarke sweating after they departed during the open training at the Tartan Amry's Garmisch-Partenkirchen training base. Scotland's opening match of the tournament against Germany is just four days away.

Robertson would earn his 50th cap as captain should he lead his side out on Friday evening against the competition hosts. It remains an anxious wait to uncover whether the move on Monday was simply a precaution.

There will be concern over Shankland too. The Hearts forward is competing with Che Adams for a spot in Clarke's starting lineup and scored in Scotland's draw with Finland at Hampden Park before making the trip to Germany.

It would not be the first injury issues the Group A side have suffered ahead of the Euros. Lyndon Dykes and Ben Doak were both forced out of contention

QPR ace Dykes was injured during training, and was left devastated when ruled out. "It wasn't a crazy one but just annoying enough to miss the tournament," he told BBC Radio Scotland's Sportsound.

"It's been really tough for me and I tried my best to make it, but I went to see the Scotland medical team and they ruled me out and that was that."

Liverpool youngster Doak was somewhat of a surprise inclusion in Clarke's provisional 28-man group having not played since suffering a knee injury in December. The 18-year-old had to withdraw from the Scotland squad as Bristol City striker Tommy Conway was called up to bolster Clarke's options having scored in his side's under-21s defeat against Turkey.
