A police officer, arriving at a fatal car crash claimed he heard the voice of a baby's mother calling out to him – despite her having died hours earlier.

The eerie voice seemed to belong to 25-year-old Lynn Groesbeck, who had tragically passed away before the first responders reached the scene.

Podcaster Mr Ballen shared the harrowing details, explaining how Officer Tyler Beddoes received a frantic call while driving near the Spanish Fork River in Utah. "The dispatcher was speaking very urgently, and said a fisherman had just called in to say that he'd spotted what looks like an upturned SUV partially submerged in the Spanish Fork River right underneath the bridge," he recounted.

Tyler and his partner didn't hesitate to dive into the icy waters in a bid to save any possible survivors trapped inside the vehicle.

"He noticed right away that none of the SUV's doors had been opened," Mr Ballen continued, indicating that the driver was likely still inside when the vehicle overturned, reports the Daily Star.

At this point, three police officers and two firefighters were working tirelessly at the scene. They found the red Dodge Caliber upside down in shallow water, its structure compromised and doors jammed shut, making it a challenging rescue.

Officers Tyler Beddoes, Jared Warner and Bryan Dewitt, along with firefighters Paul Tomadakis and Lee Mecham, struggled to identify the car's occupants in the murky water. They attempted to flip the car onto its wheels in a bid to rescue whoever was trapped inside.

Just as they were about to lose hope and wait for a tow-truck equipped with a winch, they heard something that spurred them on.

"To me, it was plain as day," Officer Warner later shared with journalists. "I remember hearing a voice that didn't sound like a child, just saying, 'Help me.'" This motivated them to get the car clear of the water far enough to see inside.

Mr Ballen recounted: "They began to raise the side of this vehicle up until the windows suddenly were clear, and Officer Beddoes and the others were able to look into the car."

"They saw there was a woman in the driver's seat and there was a baby in a car seat dangling upside down in the back seat still strapped in."

Tyler managed to reach the child, Lynn Groesbeck's two year old daughter Lily, and cradling her in his arms he made for the river bank to check on her condition.

She had been hanging upside-down in the overturned car for over 12 hours, with her head just inches from the icy river waters.

However, the identity of the person who called out to the first responders remains unknown. A post-mortem determined that Lynn had died instantly when her car hit a cement barrier on the bridge and swerved into the river.

Officer Beddoes referred to Lily's miraculous survival. He described it as a "miracle," expressing that the tiny tot must have been needed elsewhere.

In addition to this, he revealed how all five of them distinctly heard the voice from within the vehicle. He explains: "For two nights I've laid awake trying to figure out exactly what it could be. All I know is it was there, we all heard it."

"That's the part that really sends me for a whirl."

He added. "I'm not really religious, but that's what you think of."
