Kylian Mbappe is set to take a major pay cut in order to join Real Madrid.
Mbappe has officially announced he will be leaving Paris Saint-Germain when his contract expires at the end of the season and it has long been expected that a move to the Bernabeu will follow.
According to a report from Spanish publication AS, Mbappe is set to become Real's highest paid player even though the forward will be taking a pay cut that will cost him millions. It is claimed that Mbappe currently banks €6million (£5.1m) before tax each month after signing a lucrative contract extension with PSG back in 2022.
That works out to €72m (£62m) per year and the report states that Real are ready to pay him €25m (£21.5m) per year after tax. That would still mean Mbappe is comfortably the club's biggest earner, with the likes David Alaba, Toni Kroos and Jude Bellingham said to be taking home around €10.8m (£9.3m).
In his farewell video, Mbappe told fans: "I've always said that I would speak with you when the time comes. It's my last year at Paris St-Germain. I will not extend and the adventure will come to an end in a few weeks."

He will play his final home game at the Parc des Princes on Sunday when PSG welcome Toulouse, followed by trips to Nice and Metz and a French Cup final showdown against Lyon. "It's a lot of emotions, many years where I had the chance and the great honour to be a member of the biggest French club, one of the best in the world," Mbappe added.
"It allowed me to arrive here, to have my first experience in a club with a lot of pressure, to grow as a player of course, by being alongside some of the best in history, some of the greatest champions. It's hard and I never thought it would be this difficult to announce that.
"But I think I needed this, a new challenge, after seven years. PSG is a club that never leaves anyone indifferent. We can love it or hate it and I made the choice of loving it and I did for seven years. I do not regret, at any moment, signing with this prestigious club.
"It is a club I will keep in my memory my entire life. Despite everything that can happen on the outside, there are some real club lovers who want to protect it and make it shine and it's great. I won't be a player any more but I will watch every game. I tried to give the best version of myself during those seven years."
