Carol Klein, the star of Gardeners' World, has given a health update after previously disclosing her breast cancer diagnosis.

The 78-year-old gardening guru broke the news she had cancer to her followers in early May. She disclosed that she had undergone a double mastectomy and Carol has now joyfully announced that her cancer has been eradicated while presenting at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show for the BBC.

In an Instagram video, Carol shared: "A few weeks I made a post on Instagram and told you all about what had been happening to me. Earlier this year I was diagnosed with breast cancer and as a result I had a double mastectomy."

She went on: "I also had another small operation the week before Chelsea, but I was able to do Chelsea, I hope successfully. And whilst I was there I got a call from my surgeon Dr Anna Conway who gave me the very good news that my cancer has gone."

"I'm really making this post because I want to thank you all, everybody who sent me so many wonderful messages and really kept my spirits up through that, Carol continued, according to Birmingham Live, adding: "Thank you from the bottom of my heart to all the team at North Devon District Hospital, the breast care team, they were brilliant. Thanks to our NHS."

She also shared: "Now I know that everybody has been affected in some way or another by cancer. Either for themselves or for friends and relatives.

"And I just want you to know that I'm thinking about you, sending you lots of love, loads of strength and here's to the future."

Speaking about her diagnosis in May, the TV star bravely told fans: "Hello everyone, isn't it marvellous to see the sun out at last! I just wanted to get in touch with you and keep you up to date with what has been happening to me recently.

"A few weeks ago I was referred to the breast care clinic at my local hospital and after tests I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Having consulted with my family and all the doctors, it was decided that I'd have a double mastectomy and that was carried out on April 3.

"Since then I've been recovering at home and recuperating. I've sown any amount of seeds, and I've been finessing my upcoming book, so it's given me lots of opportunity to do that.

"Well I just want to thank Dr. Anna Conway and all the staff of the breast care clinic at North Devon District Hospital for their care and kindness and also their incredible efficiency. They've been brilliant, a real tribute to the NHS."

Carol was quickly inundated with support, with one fan writing beneath her post: "You have been an inspiration of mine for years, Carol. Thank you for sharing. Take care and a speedy recovery. Strange that though video pops up on the morning I am due to see my GP regarding breast lumps. Happy gardening to you, too."

Another added: "Wishing you a quick recovery Carol. Hope you have been getting some rest. Lots of love to you and your family, Chris," while a third person wrote, "Carol, I have admired you for years because of your skill in passing on gardening knowledge and your absolute passion for plants, it shines out of you. I have no doubt you will be an inspiration for anyone unlucky enough to be going through the same journey as you. Thank you for being you. Wishing you all the best for your recover."
