Man charged over 'threats to Nigel Farage' after 'coffee cup thrown'

A man was charged with using threatening behaviour after a coffee cup was allegedly hurled at Nigel Farage.

Josh Greally, 28, has been charged with using threatening behaviour towards Nigel Farage after objects were thrown at the Reform UK leader while he was campaigning in Barnsley, South Yorkshire Police said.

Mr Farage said he believes the objects were some wet cement from a work site followed by a coffee cup. Footage appears to show at least one takeaway coffee cup being launched from a open bin.

He was on the top of the Reform battle bus when the incident happened. Mr Farage had just addressed supporters but was interrupted by a crowd of demonstrators. Police arrested the man who threw the objects.

Mr Farage said he had been warned by police not to get off the bus.

Tweeting a clip of the moment the items were thrown, Mr Farage wrote: "My huge thanks to South Yorkshire Police today. I will not be bullied or cowed by a violent left-wing mob who hate our country."

He later added: "These people want to stop my election campaign. That’s never going to happen."
