Arsenal's young star Chido Obi-Martin is reportedly in discussions with Bayern Munich, despite his previous declarations of loyalty to the Gunners.

The 16-year-old sensation from the Arsenal academy has been turning heads with his dynamic performances, making the news of potential talks with the Bundesliga giants quite surprising for Arsenal supporters. Previously, Obi-Martin expressed his excitement at Arsenal and admiration for manager Mikel Arteta.

He shared his positive experiences, saying, "He (Arteta) just praises me all the time and says nice things, so it's very nice." He also emphasized his desire to stay with the club, stating, "Of course it makes me proud. I would like to stay at Arsenal for a long time."

However, Bayern Munich has swooped in following a stall in negotiations between Arsenal and Obi-Martin, with Borussia Dortmund also monitoring the situation. Despite acknowledging he might not make the first team next season, Obi-Martin remains optimistic about his chances at Arsenal, noting the lack of strikers and the club's reputation for nurturing young talent: "Maybe I will have to play permanently at Under-21 from next season," he said.

"There aren't that many strikers in the squad so it will be a good opportunity for me. Arsenal is a club that gives young talents the opportunity to play."

Despite claims that the youth prodigy rejected a scholarship renewal offer, Arsenal reportedly remain committed to keeping Obi-Martin in their ranks. The young phenom has made waves at Arsenal's youth setup, grabbing international headlines in November 2023 with an astonishing tally of 10 goals which saw the Gunners annihilating Liverpool 14-3 in an Under-16 match.

Nor was it a fleeting moment of glory - as recently as April this year he was once again on fire, slotting home seven goals as Arsenal convincingly crushed Norwich City 9-0 in another youth fixture.

Obi-Martin has already proven his goal-scoring prowess, having netted 32 goals in just 18 Premier League 2 games last season and contributing a further 10 goals in 14 caps for Denmark Under-17s. His performances have not only caught the eyes of Arsenal fans but former club star Jack Wilshere too who spoke about Obi-Martin's skyrocketing development whilst lauding Arsenal's efforts in nurturing such talents.

"He's been exceptional. I've said it before but credit to everyone at the club and at Hale End for the work that they have done with him," stated Wilshere speaking to Arsenal's official website. "He's adapted so well, helped the team massively at times. Also, credit to his teammates too because they serve him so well, and he's grateful for that."
