GEMMA Collins was told her mum could die after being rushed to hospital just hours after a family meal.

The 43-year-old got the shock of her life when Joan stopped breathing - and was told doctors would not resuscitate.

The Towie star told The Sun about 69-year-old Joan's terrifying health scare amid a turbulent few weeks.

Speaking at the book launch of Steve Bennett's Fibre First diet, Gemma said: "I've had a lot of stress the last couple of weeks.

"My mum was suddenly taken into hospital and I was told she could die.

"They would not resuscitate her if she went into cardiac arrest.

"So imagine that, you know, I'm in the hospital having been out for dinner the day before, and then the next day I'm like, 'wow', so that was a massive shock.

"Ramy's father passed away, which was also a massive shock.

"Then someone bit my dog and then my chicken died.

"It's a lot to deal with for one person in a week.

"And you know, I still have to go to work."

Gemma says her mum, who spent time in intensive, is doing "amazing" now - weeks after the worrying incident.

The reality star previously opened up about her mother’s breast cancer diagnosis last year when she appeared naked along with other celebrities in ITV’s The Full Monty to raise money for charity.

Gemma credited CEO Steve Bennett for helping her through this difficult time by transforming her diet.

Steve believes that simply reordering your favourite foods effortlessly trims your waistline and wards off disease.

Gemma added: "For the first time, I'm not on any antidepressant medication.

"My sugar levels are so balanced, and I'm not getting those afternoon dips.

"Mentally, I'm at my optimum happiness level."
