PLANE chaos left Brits fearing for their lives when a Boeing jet made a horror emergency stop during a botched takeoff.

The twin-jet Boeing 737-800 skidded across the runway at Dalman Airport in Turkey before coming to a screeching halt.

Passengers were left spewing in their seats after the pilot pulled out of the liftoff with the airliner’s front end already in the air.

Horror footage shows inside the cabin of flight TOM213 as the jet nosedived back onto the tarmac as passengers held on tight to their seats.

They had already endured a four-hour delay on Monday due to “malfunctions” with the jet destined for Manchester.

The plane's operator later announced a "technical issue" was the reason for the botched attempt.

Boeing's latest blunder comes as the company faces questions over several concerning incidents in recent months thanks to malfunctions on its planes.

One traveller told The Sun: “Before we set off lots of workers came on because there was a failure in one of the engines.”

Finally cleared for liftoff the pilot joked over the PA system: “We have good news and bad news – the good news is there is no bad news.”

We all thought we were going to die

Moments later the plane lifted its nose to take flight before suddenly smashing back down.

The impact caused passengers to hit their faces into the chairs in front of them as others began having panic attacks.

The plane, operated by TUI staff, then skidded across the tarmac for a heartstopping 10 seconds before grinding to a stop.

Passengers on board the Turkish flight revealed the horrific emotions her fellow passengers went on during the blunder saying: “I thought we had crashed into another plane.

“As we were skidding a flight attendant was on her knees and saying ‘I have got three children’.

“Babies were crying and mums couldn’t even reassure them. We all thought we were going to die.”

Passengers were heard screaming “get me off” after the sudden impact.

The pilot was said to have told the shaken passengers that the jet was travelling at 175mph when he aborted the takeoff.

They are also believed to have compared the plane to a car stalling on the road.

One passenger said the pilot's words only made the situation worse as it left people baffled and without any clarity on why the takeoff went so badly.

The plane was never safe to fly - I’m glad the pilot pulled out of the landing because god knows what would have happened otherwise

More video of the aftermath shows the pilot telling traumatised travellers: “We had another malfunction on the aircraft.

“It does seem quite dramatic – I know it’s upsetting.”

They were then forced to stay on the plane for another 30 minutes as dozens of fire crews surrounded the jet.

The passenger said: “We think one of the engines may have been on fire, but we couldn’t see anything.

“The plane was never safe to fly - I’m glad the pilot pulled out of the landing because god knows what would have happened otherwise."

Some passengers said afterwards that they could smell burning fuel from the back of the plane.

The source also claimed TUI reps involved with the flight asked the travellers to stay in Turkey for another three days.

Nearly 200 people were reportedly stuck scrambling around trying to find accommodation.

They were then told the same flailing jet would be used on the re-booked flight to the UK.

Several travellers rejected the offer with one spending £300 on a Spirit Airlines flight back to Manchester - vowing never to step foot on a TUI flight again.

Passengers are still waiting to see how much compensation they are due from the airline.

A TUI UK and Ireland spokesperson told The Sun: "We are sorry to hear of the experiences from customers on following the delayed departure of flight TOM213 from Dalaman to Manchester.

"Whilst we always aim to get our customers to and from their holiday as safely and smoothly as possible, unfortunately on this occasion a technical issue delayed departure of the flight.

"All customers will automatically receive flight delay compensation and we will be taking the learnings from this incident to improve communication with our customers moving forward."

They claimed the plane suffered a "technical issue" instead of there being an engine fire and that the plane didn’t veer off the runway.

Boeing representatives have been asked to comment by The Sun.

BOEING BLUNDERS

Just weeks ago a Boeing 737 plane with 50 passengers on board was forced to make an emergency landing just minutes after taking off.

The United Airlines plane lasted just minutes in the air before complaints of an irregularity with a wing were reported.

A 747-400 was also made to turn back after flames were spotted shooting from the engine during its takeoff.

Frightening footage shows streaks of orange flames blasting from the jet as it takes to the air with 450 passengers on board.

The Sun also reported on a burning plane skidding off the runway in Senegal in May.

The Boeing 737 jet was seen on fire as terrified passengers were forced to jump to the ground for safety at Dakar airport.

All 73 passengers were evacuated with fifteen of them being left injured - four of them seriously.

Hours earlier, another Boeing jet suffered a technical issue, raising safety concerns and causing further headache for the aircraft giant.

A total of 190 people had to be evacuated after their Corendon Airlines flight had a tyre burst during landing at the Gazipasa airport in Alanya, Turkey.
