During the analysis of the game, Costacurta became animated in the studio as he tried to demonstrate what a Cagliari player should have done to try and block a shot.

The defender, who retired in 2007, started the clip standing still on the left side of viewers screens.

He then burst into a sprint and performed a flying kick with his right leg.

However, Costacurta appeared to have done himself some damage in the process.

He could be seen holding his leg where his hamstring muscle is.

Costacurta could also be seen looking around with a rueful look on his face, appearing to indicate he had pulled something.

Reacting to the clip online, one fan said: "Billy not as limber as he used to be!"

Costacurta affectionately earned the nickname of Billy for his slim physique and time playing basketball for Olimpia Milano.
