Wolves star Matheus Cunha has admitted it is a "real honour" to be linked with Manchester United and admitted "you never know" what might happen this summer.
Mirror Football understands that United consistently tracked Cunha last season as he scored 12 Premier League goals in 32 games and the forward is high on their list of potential replacements for Anthony Martial, who left the club after his contract expired.
Cunha fits the profile of the type of player new co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe wants to bring to Old Trafford. And in a video that has circulated on social media, the 25-year-old can be seen discussing a potential move to United with friends.
When asked if he will be joining the Red Devils, Cunha said: "You know it's a real honour to have your name linked to Manchester United. One of the biggest clubs in the world. But I'm happy at Wolves.
"If I'm lucky, I play another good season, but the window is open, you never know." It is not the first time Cunha has spoken out about a move to Old Trafford, having told Globo Esporte, he replied: "Whenever I can, I come along [to Botafogo-PB games].
Premier League odds and betting tips"I always want to show that (the affection) is reciprocated. Then we see that talk (Manchester United). But I’m very happy at Wolves. My focus is on resting and making the most of my time with my family. I'm very happy at Wolves. The focus now is on having better seasons and helping the club. God willing, I'll continue on this path."
Cunha joined Wolves on loan from Atletico Madrid in January 2023, before completing a permanent £44million transfer at the end of the season. And Wolves captain Max Kilman has been impressed by the way Cunha "kicked on" in his first full season at Molineux.
"He's been fabulous," Kilman said of Cunha earlier this season. "There's added pressure on our forwards because we don't have many and you could see in the celebrations just how much it meant to everyone.
"He's a really funny guy and sees the world differently! He's a really nice guy and on the pitch you can see his character. He's been phenomenal and has really kicked on this season."
