Lorraine Kelly has revealed her real name as she gears up to become a "granny".

The Scottish star's daughter, Rosie, 29, is expecting a baby later this year, and Lorraine, 64, who won a BAFTA Special Award for her services to broadcasting on Sunday, can't wait until she gives birth.

Speaking about her joy at the "best thing to happen to our family in a really long time", the popular presenter gushed that being called "granny" will be the 'best title she's had in her life' as she let slip her real name.

Lifting the lid on her identity, when asked if she'll be a "granny or a glam-ma", she said: "Granny Smith", which is Lorraine's marital name. Sharing her delight, Lorraine continued: "It'll be my badge of honour and the best title I've ever had in my life."

Rosie revealed her pregnancy in April alongside her husband Steve with a heart-warming mirror picture of her cradling her growing bump. "We could not be more excited – you're already so loved little one", she'd penned in her caption.

Opening up about her daughter's journey to motherhood, Lorraine, who is married to cameraman Steve Smith, told Bella magazine: "I'll just have to make sure that I don't interfere too much. I've said to Rosie: 'Anything you need, just ask.'" Adding that Rosie would soon tell her if she was becoming a "nuisance", Lorraine added: "We've got that kind of relationship that if I was annoying her, she would just say: "Enough, go home!"

Last year, Lorraine and Rosie made a number of podcasts called 'What if?', mostly interviewing the Scottish star's pals from ITV. Lorraine has been interviewing the rich and famous for 40 years and on Sunday was honoured by BAFTA for her services to broadcasting.

In an emotional reception at the Royal Festival Hall in London, the Scot, who was joined by Rosie on the red carpet, said she was "honoured" as she received a special award during the BAFTA TV Awards 2024.

Despite being given prior warning about the big moment in an on-air message in March, Lorraine still looked gob-smacked as she accepted her award on stage. She picked up the award from Succession star Brian Cox, and Hugh Jackman and Helen Mirren were amongst those paying tribute on video. "It never feels like an interview. It always felt like a chat with an old mate. I am a great admirer among many others," said Mirren.

After receiving a standing ovation, Lorraine gushed: "It is such an honour, I would really like to thank everybody I have worked with in the last 40 years. I am proud to work on breakfast and daytime telly, we are campaigning but we also have fun. Viewers think of me as a pal and that is incredible.

"I would just say don't pull up the ladder, please make it possible for kids like me from a working class background, we've had amazing opportunities and I want others to have them. Thanks to my mum and dad for their work ethic. This means the world thank you so much. I am on the telly tomorrow, but I am going to celebrate tonight."
