Ricky Hatton has been gushing about new girlfriend Claire Sweeney after breaking his silence on their blossoming romance
The 45-year-old boxer met Coronation Street star Claire, 53, when they both starred in the latest series of ITV’s Dancing on Ice. And while Ricky might not have fared well on the show, being the first contestant to be voted off – he might have won something a lot more precious.
Weeks after the new couple made their red carpet debut at the official opening of the Co-Op Live arena in Manchester, Claire and Ricky flew off to Tenerife for their first holiday together. Marking the occasion, the pair were pictured on date nights and posing for photos with fans. The couple were also snapped watching the City game with their pals at a bar called The Beach Cabin.
And fans are delighted at the new romance with one saying: “You look good together”, as another posted: "You and Claire are the best match ever." A third fan added: "Oh I just adore Claire Sweeney, aww cute couple." While a fourth said: "This is nice. As long as the two of you are happy."

They said: “Ricky went out of the show early on but he contacted her afterwards, and let’s say he started wooing her. They’ve been out on several dates. Saturday was just one in a long line of them. They’ve been seeing each other quite a bit. He is completely besotted.

“It seems like an unlikely match but he’s always had a way with women. They fall for his personality, and Claire has. He knows her number one priority is her son so they are being very careful. Let’s watch this space.”
Asked how their recent holiday went as he attended last night BAFTA TV awards, Ricky didn’t hold back as he The Sun: “It was great! Claire is like me, I’ve met someone who I get on with like a house on fire. She is just like me. We spend our whole time laughing together. She’s so down to earth. She would never turn a picture down with a fan and she’s always got time for people. That’s what I really like about her. We’ve just been having good fun.”
Now it’s thought things are becoming so serious between them that Claire is planning to introduce Ricky to her family, including her nine-year-old son Jaxon, who she shares with ex Daniel Reilly.
A source told MailOnline: “Claire and Ricky have become really close. She wasn’t looking for a relationship but then Ricky came along and it just felt right and natural and she’s really happy. She signed up for a reality TV show and met a great guy, so it feels a bit like winning the lottery. She’s really counting her blessings as it all came from nowhere and often that’s the best way. She’s now really looking forward to introducing Ricky to her family and friends soon and they are really looking forward to meeting the guy who has put a smile on Claire’s face.”
