NFL legend Tom Brady is set to make his broadcasting debut in the upcoming 2024 season, and he's already stirring up some controversy.

The seven-time Super Bowl champion will be stepping into the booth for FOX Sports as their lead NFL analyst, alongside veteran commentator Kevin Burkhardt.

Upon hearing the news, Brady couldn't resist a cheeky dig at Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott. "Amazing. Obviously, having the Cowboys on is a huge draw," Brady said on Monday.

"As America's Team - that's going to get a little hard for me to say that all the time, understand they were the competition for a long time. Then, the legendary quarterback made a sly dig at Prescott.

"In this new role, I know the Cowboys, how important they are to this network. They've got great storylines, come on. Dak Prescott, let's see if he can finally come through... Did that just slip out?"

This comment seems to reference the ongoing narrative of the Cowboys' repeated failures at crucial moments, extending their run of not making an NFC Championship game to nearly 30 years.

Brady, a long-standing adversary of the Cowboys' supporters, had been rumoured to join the team upon his departure from the New England Patriots. In a twist of fate, his illustrious career concluded with a loss to Dallas, when his Tampa Bay Buccaneers were defeated in the playoffs in 2022.

The 46-year-old has been reportedly gearing up for his stint as an analyst for months - joining the ranks of ex-players like Tony Romo and Greg Olsen who have excelled in this role in recent times.

"I believe I can provide a pretty unique perspective that I think a lot of people will really like. It's going to be a lot of hard work. It's going to be a lot of fun," Brady remarked during a Front Office Sports interview in March while conversing about his switch to broadcasting. "It's always about challenging yourself to grow in different areas. And this is certainly one way that I'm doing it."

Echoing Brady's move, Peyton and Eli Manning, long-time competitors of his, have also found similar success with ESPN's 'ManningCast' for Monday Night Football, a fresh alternative for commentary on Monday Night games.

With FOX Sports having exclusive rights to this year's championship game, Brady is anticipated to join the commentary desk at this year's Super Bowl taking place in New Orleans.
