Jurgen Klopp is preparing for an emotional Anfield farewell on Sunday, though there is nothing on the line with third place already secured.

Once the goodbyes are out of the way, expected replacement Arne Slot will be soon arriving as a difficult summer of transition begins.

But the Dutch head coach’s backroom staff are already laying foundations with commitments for the Euros parked to one side. Elsewhere, a former player has opened up on why reality TV has scuppered his chances of being a pundit.

Here are the main stories from Liverpool over the past 24 hours.

Quansah’s promise

defender Jarell Quansah insists he and his team-mates "have to" give a good send-off against on Sunday.

Quansah scored his first ever goal on Monday night as Klopp's team took on chasing Aston Villa. , though, meaning Liverpool have won just one of their last five away league games.

The dip in form has seen them lose any chance they had of delivering Klopp a second Premier League title in his farewell season. The long-serving manager will depart with just one trophy this term - - despite Liverpool being in with a shot at four trophies as late as mid-March.

Slot assistant resigns

Arne Slot's Feyenoord assistant Sipke Hulshoff has given up on the Euros so that he can join his boss at .

Hulshoff has resigned as No 2 to Holland coach Ronald Koeman after it was made clear to him that the Merseysiders would only sign-off on him working alongside Slot at Anfield if he was available for duty from July 1.

It means Liverpool have cleared a major hurdle in building the Dutchman's backroom staff as he prepares to succeed at the end of the season.

Pennant’s painful decision

Former star has confessed how he believes his stint on Celebrity torpedoed his chances of a successful punditry career.

It's a common path for retired athletes to transition into media roles, but not everyone is suited for the spotlight of broadcasting. Pennant, who hung up his boots and jumped into the house in 2018, believes his appearance on the show caused broadcasters to shy away from him.

Despite making 81 appearances for Liverpool and reaching the final in 2007, he thinks his 19-day stay in the reality TV house left a lasting negative impression. However, the veteran's cameo in the social experiment was far from his first brush with controversy in the public eye.
