An otherwise ordinary house on the market has drawn attention on social media for one bizarre feature it has that people are completely baffled by.
The four-bedroom abode in Kingstanding, Birmingham, has a huge cylindrical hole adjoining two of its rooms together. The unusual feature has attracted curiosity online and people have speculated why the gaping hole exists, with guesses including that it could be a "time portal" or a "hobbit hole". Others have commented on the irony that the house is on Wreckin Road, with one suggesting it looks exactly like the wall has had a wrecking ball smashed through it.
On sale for £220,000, the interior of the house is dated, with its floral curtains and patterned carpet and is clearly in need of an owner willing to dedicate some time - and money - into bringing it into the 21st. It comes complete with a garage and garden and is being marketed by Paul Carr Estate Agents who describes it as "in need of full modernisation" and notes the "feature circular opening to the dining room" from the lounge.
Clearly no accident, social media users shared their thoughts on the fixer-upper and it's extremely unusual feature wall with one person saying: "It's a time portal," while another said: "TONIGHT MATTHEW, I'M GOING TO BE...spending £50k to modernise my house," referencing the song by Despite my Deepest Fear.
Another person noted: "With the difference in decor between the rooms it already looks like a portal to another time in history..." and another simply said: "It's like a huge cat flap lol." For a lion maybe! It'll be up to the new owners whether they decide to keep the bizarre feature or decide to fill it in.
