A property for sale is being described as the "whitest house" in the country and has divided the opinion of social media users.

The four-bedroom home in Bottisham, Cambridge is freshly refurbished and boasts an immaculate landscaped garden, an entrance hall, two reception rooms, a study and a master bedroom with an en-suite. On sale for £625,000, agents, Morris Armitage, describe the property as: "A stunning and immaculately presented modern detached family home standing within this sought-after village and superbly located within easy reach of Cambridge City."

They added about the contemporary style house: "Stylishly presented, this property has undergone a rolling programme of improvements by the current owners and offers some outstanding modern finishes throughout. Outstanding family home - viewing highly recommended."

But with what some are calling a "minimalist style", the house has really gained attention for its primary use of one colour in particular: stark white. With everything from the furniture to the walls being colourless, including the rugs, light fixtures, cabinets, tiles and shelves, there is just a children's duvet, a couple of pillows and a piano with any hint of colour. After being shared online, social media users flocked to the comments to share their opinion on the unique house, with many mentioning one thing in particular: how difficult it would be to keep the place clean.

One Reddit user said: "Is this the whitest house in Britain? I think it might be...," while another even claimed the colourless house was making them uncomfortable, commenting: "This is genuinely one of the most unsettling houses I've seen. I'm shocked they even have grass, I would've thought it'd be too saturated for them."

Some were shocked at how pristine the house still appeared to look, with one person suggesting: "There are no children in that house. If there were there'd be handprints everywhere!!!" Another person was quick to point out, however, that it did indeed seem like kids lived there. They said: "Tragically I think a couple of the rooms on the listing are actually kids' rooms - and yes, they are still white," while one person agreed that white is not the most child-friendly colour, saying: "I feel sorry for those kids. Never played in the mud, never seen chalk or paint."

Many were quick to joke about the owners' limited colour palette. One said "At least have a feature wall of colour so it feels less like an institution!!" to which one laughed: "Perhaps one wall is a different white." Another user said: "Nah there's too much colour in that place....all those books and board games spoil the monochrome aesthetic entirely lol," and one suggested: "Nothing 5 mins with a paintball gun wouldn't solve."

However, others claimed critics were being far too harsh and jumped to defend the style of the much-loved family home. One Redditor said: "That's lovely. Might not be for you but I often disagree with opinions on this sub. That's a very loved home." Another agreed, adding: "Exactly! I absolutely love this type of minimalist style to a house. I would maybe not make it all white if it were mine, but I still think this is beautiful and so much better than a lot of other houses. I also often disagree with opinions on this sub - seems like too much unnecessary criticism."
