As they celebrated their one year anniversary, Hayley Palmer believed her public relationship with The Chase star Mark Labbett was going from strength to strength.
But now, it has been sensationally revealed that the TV star dumped Hayley, 42, during a three-minute phone call. And the reason? Mark, better known as The Beast, allegedly said he didn't want to go through a divorce with his ex wife Katie. But the shocking declaration, according to Hayley, came after the couple had been celebrating their one year anniversary. In an interview with The Sun on Sunday, the Sky entertainment reporter revealed: "He has really lived up to his name. The Beast has been a beast. It has come as a complete shock. I thought we were really happy."
She added: "I’m heartbroken and blindsided. His behaviour has been beastly." The couple first met at the National Television Awards in 2022 via a mutual friend. They started speaking when Mark was told within ear shot of Hayley, that he had been given a Toby Carvery gold card. And from that moment on, the pair hit it off and eventually became romantically linked. Just days before Mark dropped the huge bombshell on Hayley, they had appeared on Loose Women together and spoke about their bright future.

But on May 24 at 9am, Hayley said she asked him what was happening with his divorce with his ex wife, who he shares a son with. Instead of explaining that the divorce was proceeding, he told her that he thought it best they should part ways. He reportedly added: "You were right, I don’t want to get a divorce." Hayley explained that she struggled to hold back tears due to shock as the conversation had started out like any other - and he apparently asked her to join him and his son at a water park.
She recalled: "Then he said, ‘I don’t know how to tell you this, but you were right. I don’t want to divorce my ex-wife’. The shock of the way he said it was so brutally cold and not the Mark I know.I thought he was a gentle giant, so this was the complete opposite." Hayley admitted that she was left further floored as he made no attempt to talk things through, which has left her feeling disrespected. Mark had split from his ex wife after he found out she had cheated on him with a younger man for more than a year.

But on the back of his shock admission she is now left unsure if the former couple had rekindled his romance. When asked if she thought he had, she replied: "I don’t know . . . you’d have to ask him about that. All I know is that I gave him my full trust so, for me, I just believed he was spending time with his family — which is what I expected.But my trust has been completely broken and, for me, there would be no going back."
