Rylan Clark has revealed that he has been writing music, with him having shared that he's even secretly released a couple of songs that have "done well".

The presenter, now 35, rose to fame as a contestant on the X Factor more than a decade ago, having reached the quarter-final of the competition back in 2012. He's now known for his presenting work, which has included fronting TV shows like This Morning in recent years and providing commentary for the annual Eurovision Song Contest.

It's however been teased that Rylan - whose real name is Ross Clark - has been writing music behind the scenes. The Celebrity Big Brother winner has shared that he's even released some tracks, though not under the name 'Rylan'.

He spoke about his career on the Table Manners podcast, which is hosted by singer-songwriter Jessie Ware, 39, and her mother Lennie Ware, 72. Rylan was a guest on the latest episode alongside his pal Rob Rinder, 45, who he appears with in the new BBC show Rob and Rylan's Grand Tour.

Rylan said: "I write music. So I've done quite a lot of songs." His pal Rob added: "They're really good." Rylan continued by sharing that he had written them for himself and he went on to state that some of the tracks have been released.

He shared: "Some have been released, but not under 'Rylan,' and they've done well, which is fun." The presenter further commented on the podcast: "I've released a couple of tracks, yeah, that have done well and I'm happy with."

The guest however wouldn't provide the names of them to podcast host Jessie on the podcast. Rylan said that although he hadn't produced the songs in question, he provided vocals for them and had written the tracks too.

Jessie reacted: "Have they been named more as a producer... DJ..." Rylan interjected to tell the podcast host: "Featuring someone else." And asked why he doesn't want people to know, Rylan said in the episode: "I'm not ready for that yet."

He continued: "Honest truth, because I think where I started out on X Factor and... I had a very easy role to play on that show and that was be the one that everyone talks about... and my job wasn't to sing on X Factor. I think if Joe Public read tomorrow 'Rylan's bringing out a CD' people would go 'shut up' and it would already be prejudged.

"And I've been really like lucky over the last 12 years - I've been successful in my career. I've done really, really well. And this hand is telling me 'don't tell people it's you because they'll prejudge' but then there's this sort of like curiosity killed the cat hand going 'could you do it all again, like from scratch?'"

Rylan went on to suggest that he "badly" feels as though he needs to "scratch that itch" as a performer. He shared that earlier this year he had an moment where it felt like it was "now or never".
