Alfie Best could soon become the world's first gypsy billionaire after his net worth swelled by an eye-watering £202million in just one year.

The 52-year-old, who left school at the age of 12 and made his fortune through his mobile home park empire, is now worth an estimated £947million, according to the latest Sunday Times Rich List. As well as owning 90 residential parks through his company Wyldecrest Parks, Alfie is the star of a TV documentary called Gypsy Billionaire and is the owner of non-league East Thurrock United.

He also owns homes in and around London worth almost £30million. Alfie and his family are now ranked number 174 on the Sunday Times Rich List, which today revealed the 350 most wealthy people in the UK. But Alfie has now upped sticks and moved to the millionaire's playground of Monaco. As a result of his new lodgings in the south coast of France he does not pay UK income tax and says he will never come home as a result - because he can save millions of pounds every year.

Alfie told MailOnline: “It's true I will not be paying personal income tax by living in Monaco but all my companies are still in the UK so they will be paying tax. I have always paid my fair share of tax and will continue to do so. The only difference being here in Monaco is I do not pay personal income tax.

"So when I get dividends from my companies there will be no income tax to pay. It is no longer Great Britain but Broken Britain. If you are a successful businessman, you are punished by the taxman and I have had enough of that. I have been chased for seven years and have had enough of that.”
