Lauren Boebert has turned up in court to support Donald Trump just days after her own son's criminal trial, which she did not attend

The Colorado Republican Representative was among those showing support for the former US president in his hush money trial. On Thursday, she wrote on X: "I'm in New York City for court with President Trump today. We are 100% behind him!" She later added: "I'll never stop standing up for President Trump, even if I'm the last one standing."

Boebert appeared in court alongside Florida Republicans Anna Paulina Luna, Michael Waltz, and Matt Gaetz, Tennessee Rep Andy Ogles, and Arizona Rep Andy Biggs. Boebert spoke to the media outside court and declared: "President Trump is not going anywhere. And we are not going anywhere either. We are here to stand with him."

And as her GOP colleagues walked away from the podium, Boeber said: "And I want all of the news to start asking the question, ‘What is the crime?’ Because everyone in this court has not been informed of what the crime is. The defendant does not know the crime that was committed."

But her presence at the trial was mocked on social media as the US Rep failed to show up at her teenage son Tyler Boebert's criminal trial. The 18-year-old was arrested in late February and faces felony charges in connection to a string of recent vehicle trespasses and property theft in Rifle, Colorado.

During a court appearance this week, the teen said he was facing financial difficulties and could not afford a lawyer despite his mother making at least $175,000 (£138,400) a year while serving as the representative for Colorado's 3rd congressional district. On X, someone wrote: "You stopped standing up for your own kids tho." Another added: "You'll stand up for Trump but not your own son. Wow, mother of the year material right there."

One more person added: "Lauren Boebert did not attend her son's court hearing last week (where he said he can't afford a lawyer) but found time to travel to NYC to attend Trump's trial." Former Republican operative Ron Filipkowski tweeted: "Boebert doesn't show up for her son's criminal court dates where he says he can't afford a lawyer. Instead, the MAGA Mother of the Year is up in NYC giving a hand to Donald Trump."

Democrat Brian Krassenstein added: "As Matt Gaetz and Lauren Boebert travel to New York City to attend Trump's trial, here's a reminder, that Boebert's teenage son Tyler Boebert was in court 7 days ago, without his mother and without a lawyer (he said he was having trouble paying for one). Lauren Boebert makes at least $175,000 a year. Just saying…"

Boebert and the other Republican representatives attended Trump's trial days after House Speaker Mike Johnson made an appearance. He said: "I told him I wanted to be here myself to call out what is a travesty of justice. President Trump is a friend and I wanted to be here to support him."
