NEWCASTLE have launched a move to sign Arsenal's Aaron Ramsdale, according to reports.

Eddie Howe is keen to link up with Ramsdale again, having previously worked with him at Bournemouth.

The Telegraph report that the Magpies are willing to pay £15million to sign the keeper.

They are also prepared to offer the keeper a five year contract to entice him to take a move to the North East.

Ramsdale has fallen down the pecking order at Arsenal after the club signed David Raya on loan from Brentford last summer.

The Gunners paid an initial £3million for Ramsdale with the option to buy him for £40m this summer.

Arteta initially implied he would rotate the pair but Ramsdale has in reality found opportunities limited.

The keeper has made 11 appearances this season after being a mainstay of the team that challenged for the title last year.

Ramsdale appeared to respond to rumours linking him to Newcastle last night on X, writing: "News to me ????" in a cryptic post.

SunSport previously exclusively revealed that Wolves are interested in the keeper and would be prepared to sell Jose Sa to fund the deal.

In November last year, Aaron Ramsdale's father Nick complained that his son had "lost his smile" and could not understand why he had fallen down the pecking order behind Raya.

Newcastle believe that at 26, Ramsdale still has a high ceiling and room to improve in the future.

The report also details that Ramsdale would not arrive at St James' Park as first-choice and would have to displace Nick Pope.

Pope has missed much of this season with injury, but is in line to return for Newcastle's final game of the season on Sunday against Brentford.

Pope is 32 now and Ramsdale is seen as a successor for the keeper.
