Most people have experienced a time where they’ve ended up being a little backed up or where their system has felt sluggish. But doctors have revealed that for one patient the delay in going to the bathroom lasted for months.
Taking to Reddit, the doctor explained that the man was so bloated as a result of being constipated that his stomach resembled that of a woman pregnant with triplets.
Discussing the patient, it was explained that the constipation was so severe that the man’s waste had actually hardened and, as a result, became stuck in his colon - an issue known as ‘faecal impaction’.

The man's stool had hardened and become stuck (@doctor.Justin/Tiktok)While uncomfortable it can be easily treated by removing the mass manually or via an enema, where water is pumped into the colon to help loosen the stool, allowing it to leave the body in the normal way.

In his post, the doctor said: “Had to ask a patient when the last time he did a bowel movement was. He said last "real s*** was three months ago."
The doctor also shared the scans of the patient, which showed a large grainy mass, which turned out to be stool.

Another said: “Oh god, I feel bad missing two days… I can’t imagine three months”.
Physicians were also quick to comment on the man’s situation, with Dr Oreon Gottfried, a neurosurgeon from North Carolina, commenting: “If you feel horrible not going number two every day, imagine the pure agony of not going for months.”
Dr Justin Shafa, a radiologist from Los Angeles shared some pictures of the scan and said: This is stool, this is stool…this is impressive… this is probably equivalent to like a triplet pregnancy.”
