Jose Mourinho has been offered an opportunity to return to management by Turkish outfit Besiktas.

Mourinho, 61, is unattached after being sacked by AS Roma back in January but has been linked with plenty of top European clubs in recent months after indicating he was ready for a swift return to the dugout.

While it recently emerged Mourinho is keen on a dream return to Manchester United, it seems far more likely he will end up elsewhere in Europe.

And Besiktas vice-president Huseyin Yucel has now revealed Sports Digitale, via Football Italia, that his club have already held talks with the former Chelsea and Real Madrid chief over a proposal which would see him reunite with Ricardo Quaresma: a player Mourinho fell out with at Inter Milan.

He said: "We contacted Jose Mourinho a month ago and he welcomed our offer. We already resolved the economic details and will go to Italy next week so we can meet face to face. If we reach an agreement with Mourinho, then we will recommend he include Ricardo Quaresma in the staff."

Intriguingly, Fenerbahce also hold an interest in Mourinho, meaning the Turkish Super Lig clubs could be forced to battle for his signature. Fenerbahce are currently second in the Super Lig table, whereas Besiktas are fifth.

Mourinho, twice a Champions League winner, was sacked by Roma just months after reaching the Europa League final after failing to meet expectations in Serie A.

He recently conducted an interview with Fabrizio Romano where he outlined a desire to work with an established club who already have a positive infrastructure in place.

"I think the ideal scenario is when the club has a structure that allows the coach to be the coach on the pitch and on the training ground, in the dressing room, on the touchline. But be the coach," Mourinho explained when he was asked what he was looking for in his next role.

"I was the coach at Inter. I was the coach at Real Madrid. I was the coach in my first spell at Chelsea. I was the coach at Porto. In some other clubs, I was not the coach, so that is very difficult for a coach. But, I think, my relationship with every football club where I've worked and the fanbase, the base of everything is they see I arrive, I wear the shirt and I fight for them."
