Manchester United's Premier League season is now over - but there is still work to do at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils secured a 2-0 victory on the last day of the campaign against Brighton. Diogo Dalot and Rasmus Hojlund scored at the Amex Stadium.

Despite victory, the campaign has been a disappointment for Erik ten Hag's side, who finished eighth - their lowest-ever position in Premier League history. Man United could yet lift silverware though.

They take on local rivals Manchester City in the FA Cup final this weekend. Take a look at all of the fallout from the Premier League’s last day and build-up to this weekend’s trip to Wembley.

Casemiro gives furious transfer response

Casemiro has fired back at critics - including Jamie Carragher - who have claimed he should retire. The former Liverpool star tore into the Brazilian for his performance in the 4-0 defeat to Crystal Palace.

Casemiro has now responded and claims he has no intent of hanging up his boots. Speaking to Sky Sports, he said: "I feel very well, very well. "I’m really well, I feel healthy, with energy and the same mentality I always had.

“I guess people end up talking about the age factor, but it’s been proven. Recently, our friend Thiago Silva, at the age of 39 coming here and showing that, yes, you can play. The previous Ballon d’Or winners were over 34.”

Casemiro, 32, has two years left on his Old Trafford contract. He has been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia.

Ten Hag gives excuse for shocker

Man United boss Erik ten Hag has suggested "everyone knows" why his side have endured a record-breakingly bad season. Speaking to the BBC after the win against Brighton, the Dutchman said: "It is not good enough by far.

“Although we had less than 60 points two years ago, 58 points, eighth is the worst performance. It is the truth but we should have done better.

“We know the reasons behind it, everyone knows, but it is not the right moment to go into it. It’s not good enough."

Neville reveals Hojlund sympathy

Man United icon Gary Neville has expressed his sympathy for the “impossible job” Rasmus Hojlund had on his hands this season. The Dane joined for big money in the summer but has struggled for consistency.

In The Overlap newsletter, Neville wrote: "Watching Hojlund, I felt sorry for him. You talk about the difficulty United have had putting out a consistent back four this season. But it's the same up front.

"Hojlund doesn't know what the pattern of play is, whether the wide player is going to go to the line or come inside. You can see he's making good runs all the time and then the wide man will come back inside and there will be a 15-pass sequence.

"Another time he'll drop in and try to join in with that and that will inevitably be the time the wide man decides to get to the line and cross it. Until United can establish a consistent pattern of play, being centre forward in that team will be an impossible job."

Hojlund has actually rounded off his season in positive form. The 21-year-old has scored in each of his last two Premier League games after being introduced as a substitute.
