Oliver Glasner said he was confident his three crown jewels will be at Crystal Palace next season - or else the club will generate enough cash to build a new stadium.

The Eagles’ boss spoke glowingly of Jean-Philippe Mateta, Michael Olise and Eberechi Eze as they tore Champions League newbies Aston Villa to pieces at Selhurst Park. Mateta (threee) and Eze (two) grabbed the goals in a 5-0 win but Olise was menace throughout as the south Londoners finished winning six matches out of their final seven this season.

He said: “I am very confident they’ll be here because they have contracts and no one has told me they’ll be leaving. I think what we have done is that we have shown them that Crystal Palace have ambition.

“We have shown them how we want to play, which path we want to go down, which journey we want to ride together. They can show their strengths, qualities and personalities and express themselves.

“They fit together. This is what we can do. If something else happens, then this is football. But Crystal Palace will be able to build a new Selhurst - because it will cost a lot of money.”

Villa boss Unai Emery admitted his side were well-beaten and refused to criticise any of his squad as his heavily-changed team were on the end of a hiding. He said he would be taking a rest - but would be straying in touch with the club’s decision-makers to plot their assault on the Champions League next season.

He said: “This was not a good result. They showed us their power. Until the 35th minute we were creating chances - we were losing 1-0 but after the second goal - and in the second half - we lost the small energy we had.

“It was difficult today after we had achieved our biggest objective. We couldn’t keep feeling strong on the field. We didn’t do it. We have to accept it.

“I can’t say anything to the players or for their work but the circumstances we had, I have to accept it. We have to take some decisions about next year. The hard work for me is analysing matches. I’m going to stop, rest and keep in touch with the club to take decisions for next season.”
