A "mum and daughter" found dead at a Nottingham house "hadn't been seen for months" before their bodies were found, neighbours said.

Cops scrambled to a home in the inner-city Radford area at 11.04am yesterday after concerns were raised for its occupants' welfare.

They later gained entry to the address and found the bodies of two women inside.

It is believed the women's bodies had "lain undiscovered" for some time.

Neighbours claimed they hadn’t seen the occupants of the council-owned house – with the mother believed to be in her 40s and daughter in her late teens or early 20s – for several months.

Deborah Williams, 48, said: “It is very sad. I haven’t seen them since February, and their windows have been open since then.

“They would go away somewhere for months at a time and then come back, so I just figured that is what had happened this time, and why I hadn’t seen them."

Horrified neighbour Lin Hui said cops had been at the property all night.

She told the Nottingham Post: "I'm shocked and scared. I didn't know them, I only moved in in September."

Neighbour Matt Alam said: "I'm shocked, I can't remember seeing them in the six years I've been here."

In a statement, Detective Chief Inspector Ruby Burrow said: "We don’t believe there to be an immediate risk to the public.

"But we are keeping an open mind into what has happened at this address.

"We will be working hard over the next few days to establish how and when these two women lost their lives.

"My thoughts and those of every other officer involved in this investigation are with those who have died, their family and friends."
