Princess Kate was overwhelmed with joy when she attended a ceremony where Prince William earned an award.

The Princess of Wales was beaming as she watched her then-boyfriend as he was given his "wings" following the successful completion of a 12-week RAF military flying course at Cranwell, Lincolnshire, in April 2008. William, who was given the award by his father Charles, shot a loving glance at Kate.

In the footage, which went viral on TikTok earlier this year, showed Kate swooning over him as the clip continued. Their relationship was in its earlier stages at the time and her presence during the ceremony indicated how deeply they cared for one another. As of May 21, the clip has been viewed more than 438,000 times on the social media platform and has been liked on more than 71,500 occasions.

The sweet video showed brief clips from the event, with the pair being visibly smitten with one another. At the time of the ceremony, the Telegraph said: "Among William's guests was his girlfriend Kate Middleton, in her first appearance with the Prince at a major official event since the young royal—a serving officer in the British Army—graduated from Sandhurst in December 2006.

"The move will fuel speculation that the couple, who have been involved in an on-off relationship for a number of years, are closer than ever." Prince William started an 18-month training course with the RAF in January 2009 to become a Search and Rescue pilot. He graduated from the course in Anglesey, Wales, in September 2010.

He carried out rescues during his time as a search and rescue pilot before he retired from the position in 2013. Prince William would reveal in 2021 the emotional impact of dealing with life and death moments during his work. During one rescue in the mountains of Snowdonia, a terrified 15-year-old waited to be saved as he lay in agony. The Prince of Wales used his skills to control the helicopter as his team tended to the teen's injuries.
