A content creator has come under fire for shaming a restaurant that rejected her collaboration offer. Jamieson May, who uses social media to share "travel, lifestyle, fashion and food"- related content, uploaded a video last month about vegetarian restaurant Patsy's, in Melbourne.

In her three-minute TikTok video, she shared how she contacted the restaurant for a potential collaboration, telling them how she could benefit their brand. However, she was "disgusted" to see their response - and claims it was "extremely rude" and "unprofessional".

Since posting the video to her 2,500 TikTok followers, she has decided to take a break from social media as she was inundated with criticism in response. In her video, she says: "This is a PSA (public service announcement) for all creators who work with food, travel, lifestyle, etc.

"I received the most horrible message yesterday from a restaurant wanting to work with them - and I need to make you aware so you guys never work with them and know your standards." She went on to explain how she used her pre-made template to reach out to Patsy's to see whether they'd be interested in a collaboration.

  • 'I caught my mum sleeping with my husband - I can't erase the image from my mind'
  • She added: "I sent one [a message] to this restaurant. I've sent other ones and never had a problem with it, ever. They turned around to my message and said this..."

Jamieson then shares a screenshot claiming the messages are between her and the restaurant. In them, the restaurant allegedly said: "You don't seem to have any followers maybe you should approach us when you have over 100k." In response, Jamieson wrote: "Sorry. But that is extremely rude."

Following up, the restaurant allegedly said: "Perhaps... but you are pretending to be influential on social media and that's just not true and rather than me just saying that you are lying and pretending to be beneficial to our business... I just said come back when you're actually able to do what you think we should engage you to do. Is it rude to question something that is obviously not true?"

Speaking on TikTok, she added: "I'm absolutely gobsmacked. I had no words. I was actually disgusted that someone could say that to another person. This is clearly someone not in marketing - they don't understand literally anything."

However, her video did not reach its intended audience - other content creators - and she ended up being inundated with 'hate comments' from users. She told Daily Mail Australia: "People sent extremely rude comments that I am just an entitled influencer who just wants 'free' stuff and I am complaining about it all."

Jamieson has since turned comments off on the video - but it has been shared 270 times and received more than 650 likes. Patsy's, which is owned by restaurateurs Mathew Guthrie and Clinton Trevisi, defended its response, telling news.com.au: "Her followers are not really people that we have in the venue often and probably not the market that we are looking to engage with.

"I think she was just hoping to increase her visibility with these outrage posts. 'It, sort of, has worked already but I am not sure how it will be able to be monetised as marketing."
