The unused Premier League victory arch on standby at Arsenal will be recycled.

Arsenal and Manchester City were both in the running for the league title on the final day of the season, requiring the Premier League to prepare for both outcomes. Contrary to popular opinion, there was no helicopter filled with trophies and medals waiting to travel to either London or Manchester.

Trophies, sets of medals, plus the podium and trophy arch, were already installed at both the Emirates and the Etihad. Despite Arsenal securing a 2-1 win against Everton, the set-up proved unnecessary after City clinched a fourth consecutive title with a 3-1 victory over West Ham.

Images displaying the unused trophy arch, stored deep within the Emirates and embossed with 'Champions 2023/24' alongside the Arsenal badge, have been widely shared on social media.

The Premier League has confirmed plans to recycle the unused victory arch, reports football.london. The league also revealed that the stage used at the Etihad would be repurposed.

Arsenal are coming to terms with a second straight title near-miss, although Mikel Arteta's squad appear to be closing in on the gap to league-topping City, having claimed four points off Pep Guardiola's team this season.

Speaking after his impressive first year at Arsenal, Declan Rice conceded that the Gunners can't count on help from other teams next season. He said: "To not win it is gutting, but we can't rely on other teams to help us out.

"We have to look back on ourselves and games where we dropped points. That is ultimately where we've lost the league, but we'll be back. We're really confident as a group and you see the manager has full control of everything. I'm sure we'll be stronger in the summer."
