Royal fans thanked the Princess of Wales after she shared a moving Father’s Day picture of her husband the Prince of Wales and their three children.

The photograph, posted to the couple’s social media account, showed William arm in arm with Princes George and Louis and Princess Charlotte. A caption on the post that also contained a heart emoji read: “We love you, Papa. Happy Father’s Day G, C & L.”

It is the first-ever message issued by the sibling trio. The photo was credited to the Princess of Wales, leading well-wishers to comment on the post.

Another person said: “Crying [crying emoji] what a beautiful photo taken by Catherine.” One person added: “The sweetest picture ever! Happy Father's Day William, thank you for sharing this lovely picture with us… As usual, The Princess takes the best pictures of her family.”

A third added: "Oh my gosh. Beautiful photo" Kate said earlier this year, following questions regarding an edited photograph that was shared on Mother’s Day, that she was a keen “amateur photographer.”

Royal fans were pleased by Kate’s appearance at the King’s birthday celebrations yesterday. Trooping the Colour was her first public engagement since her cancer diagnosis earlier this year.

In a message the day before Trooping the Colour, Kate said she had been "blown away by all the kind messages of support and encouragement" but added she is not "out of the woods yet."

In a video, Kate said: "I’m looking forward to attending The King’s Birthday Parade this weekend with my family and hope to join a few public engagements over the summer, but equally knowing I am not out of the woods yet.

"I am learning how to be patient, especially with uncertainty. Taking each day as it comes, listening to my body, and allowing myself to take this much-needed time to heal." She rode to the event in a carriage with her children, while William, the Princess Royal, and the Duke of Edinburgh were on horseback.

Both Kate and the Palace have said her upcoming duties - including Trooping the Colour - are not set in stone, as they will depend on her overall health. The Princess said she would carry out work, while the Palace added plans could change at the last minute.

With the King also suffering from cancer, Kate’s appearance was a rare joint public outing for the entire family after a period of uncertainty. The King also rode in a carriage with the Queen, a departure from last year because of his illness.
