Here's what we think will (and won't) be shown at the Nintendo Direct

NINTENDO has just announced that the June Direct will be held on Tuesday, June 18, 2024.

Announcements for Nintendo Directs are always closely guarded, but that doesn’t mean we can’t guess.

We’ve searched the web for what everyone is hoping will be announced, and have given our opinion on how likely they are to appear.

Here’s what we think will and will not be shown at the June Nintendo Direct.

Xenoblade X port - highly unlikely

Everyone wants to be able to play every Xenoblade game on Nintendo Switch, but Xenoblade X is the missing piece of the puzzle.

Developer Monolith Soft has stated several times that there are no plans to return to Xenoblade X so we think this one will likely never be re-released.

Metroid Prime 4 - very unlikely

Never say never, but we think it is very unlikely that we will see anything of Metroid Prime 4 at the upcoming Nintendo Direct.

It was originally announced in 2017, but by 2019 Nintendo announced that the project would be started over.

Nintendo is known for the quality of its games, and it is unlikely that it will show anything of the game before it is ready.

Remasters for Metroid Prime 2 and/or 3 are far more likely, especially considering the success of the original Prime remaster.

While the first game was shadow-dropped following its announcement, with the impending launch of Luigi’s Mansion 2 we think this is unlikely too.

Another Mario RPG remake - very unlikely

Nintendo recently successfully released the remaster of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, and the Super Mario RPG remake had a popular launch last year.

It makes sense that following these releases another one of Mario’s excellent RPGs would see a re-release.

While the RPGs have been successful, we think that Nintendo is more likely to try to branch out into other Mario games.

Yoshi’s Island or Yoshi’s Wooly World remasters or remakes feel more likely at this point.

Wind Waker and/or Twilight Princess remakes or ports - unlikely

Nintendo has been remaking or porting a huge number of its popular older games, and the two many are asking for are from the Zelda series.

However, while many Nintendo fans have been asking for ways to play these games there is no evidence that remakes or ports are in the works.

That’s not to say that Nintendo hasn’t listened to players' wants, just that they are unlikely to be released anytime soon.

It’s more likely that these types of ports will be coming for the Switch successor than as an end-of-console launch.

Silksong - neither likely or unlikely

Silksong could reappear at any time, so why not in the next Direct?

It has recently appeared on age rating boards, which usually means that a release date announcement is imminent.

However, it’s never for certain, and when it comes to Silksong, everything is a mystery.

Kirby - likely

It’s been a while since we’ve seen the pink blob, though it’s unclear which form he will reappear in.

Some Kirby trademarks have been popping up suggesting that a Rainbow Curse re-release could be in the works.

The last new mainline entry in the series, Kirby and the Forgotten Land, launched in March 2022 meaning there hasn’t been much time since development ended.

Whether it’s a mainline entry, or a re-release, we expect something friend-shaped to be announced.
