Arsenal are in the market for Feyenoord goalkeeper Justin Bijlow.

‌Gunners boss Mikel Arteta is in the market for a new No.2 'keeper with Aaron Ramsdale expected to leave the club this summer. Bijlow, 26, is on Arsenal’s shortlist and they will decide whether to press ahead with him in the next few days.

‌ Netherlands international Bijlow was wanted by Manchester United last summer but they baulked at the £22million asking price. But now Bijlow could be available for around the £10m mark as he has two years left on his contract and has had a couple of injury setbacks which means he is no longer Dutch No.1 but is still highly regarded.

Liverpool boss Arne Slot is another admirer but there is a feeling he may have other targets and areas to strengthen. Furthermore, Slot may be reluctant to make his first signing from Holland or a Dutch player so he does not almost become pigeon-holed in that market.

Arsenal will sign David Raya permanently from Brentford for around £30m after his successful season-long loan at the club. Raya won the Premier League ’s Golden Glove award for most clean sheets and has a reputation from playing out from the back.

‌He is now No.1 and Ramsdale looks set to leave but, because he has three years left on his deal, loaning him for a season could be an option, although clearly both parties might prefer a permanent switch.

‌ Newcastle are watching developments, Chelsea may look for a new keeper and Ramsdale’s value will surely have increased after his time at Arsenal as he was signed for £24m-plus. Arsenal allowed Arthur Okonkwo to leave while Karl Hein looks set to be No.3 but they need a back-up and Bijlow is the perfect fit.‌

He has a great reputation, plays out from the back, is almost seen as a third centre-half and has an excellent save ratio as well as being a specialist in one-on-one situations.

Amid United’s interest last summer, Bijlow told ESPN : “At Feyenoord, the feeling is always good. It’s never a punishment to be here, I’ve always said that. I want to go for the highest achievable and one day I will definitely take a step?”
