Well-known music manager Scooter Braun has announced he's stepping back from management.

Scooter is best known for previously managing artists like Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande. In 2019, Scooter faced controversy as various stars, including Demi Lovato and J Balvin, began cutting ties with him one by one.

He's also known for buying Taylor Swift's music catalogue that same year, angering Swifties and leading Taylor to start re-recording her albums. Scooter later sold her catalogue for about $300million (about £236million).

He shared a 1,400-word statement on Instagram explaining his decision to leave. He reminisced on his years in the industry and how he listened to

Scooter said for his "entire adult life" he was a music manager, starting when he was 19-years-old, in Atlanta, Georgia. "I think I have wanted this for a while, but I was truly afraid to answer the question, 'Who would I be without them?'" he said, "It’s all I had known."

About his family, Scooter added: "As my children got older, and my personal Iife took some hits, I came to the realization that my kids were 3 superstars I wasn’t willing to lose. The sacrifices I was once willing to make I could no longer justify."

Swifties on Twitter, now known as X, are celebrating Scooter leaving music managing behind. They still hold a grudge against him buying Taylor's music catalogue and, according to Taylor, stopped her from using her old music ever since she announced she would re-record her albums.

Meanwhile on Scooter's Instagram post, fans of Justin Bieber shared their gratitude for what Scooter did for Justin's career. "Our eternal gratitude for discovering Justin and giving the world the opportunity to have the privilege of having this successful singer," one commented, "Thank you for everything you did for Bieber, and enjoy your new phase!"

Another added: "I will be eternally grateful for you. Enjoy your life and your family, be happy, you deserve it."
