NINTENDO first announced a new entry in the Metroid Prime series with a logo of Metroid Prime 4.

This was all the way back in 2017, and since then Nintendo changed the studio and started the game fresh.

Many believed that Metroid Prime 4 would never be released, and that Nintendo would silently cancel the project.

Hope was restored when at the beginning of 2023, Nintendo released a remaster of the original Metroid Prime, which was hugely successful.

Fans thought we would at least receive remasters for Prime 2 and 3 even if Prime 4 never saw the light of day.

However, we were all proven wrong when the company showed its first trailer for the game, now called Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, at the June 2024 Nintendo Direct.

Like the other entries in the Metroid Prime series, it is a first-person shooter featuring series protagonist Samus Aran.

The platforming looks as smooth as ever, as Samus traverses a war torn alien planet, fighting space pirates along the way.

A two-minute trailer was shown giving fans a sneak peek at the upcoming game, and the new mysterious protagonist.

The only disappointment from the trailer was that Metroid Prime 4: Beyond won’t be launching this year, but that was to be expected.

The trailer ends by revealing that Metroid Prime 4: Beyond will launch in 2025 exclusively for Nintendo Switch, which is still sooner than we thought.
