Matthaus, who is Germany's all-time most capped player with 150 appearances, won the Euros in 1980 and World Cup in 1990.

But it is not his credentials that are being called into question at Euro 2024.

Instead, it is his questionable choice of attire.

Matthaus has worn two different gilets when reporting as a pitchside pundit for the games.

Both the blue and white jackets displayed patterns on them and were not to everyone's liking.

Journalist Sam Wallace said: "Intrigued by Lothar Matthaus’ Euro 2024 pundit wardrobe for German TV.

"He wore exactly the same outfit yesterday - but in white. Looked like an off-duty cosmonaut."

One fan replied: "He looks like a deflated balloon."

While another added: "Has he got his own clothing line? (I'm only half joking)."

And a third responded: "Looks like he’s been plucked off the golf course. If he’s not wearing a pair of Nike Air Max I’ll be gobsmacked."
