A CARRY On legend has been rushed to hospital and has missed an awards ceremony after a nasty accident.

Anita Harris, 82, took to X, formerly known as Twitter to explain what happened.

The star announced that she had an accident that sent her to the hospital but assured everyone she would be better in no time.

Anita wrote on X: "Apologies to my fellow panto buddies at the Pantomime Awards this evening.

"Had a bit of a mishap in the High Street, tripped whilst dodging a child’s buggy but luckily kind-hearted people came to my aid.

"Currently on my way out of hospital, but I'll be back on my feet in no time! 'Oh’ yes I will!'

"My love and thanks for all the support. Anita x"

Anita starred in the Carry On film Carry On Doctor where she played Nurse Clarke.

She was also in the Carry On film Follow That Camel where she played Cork Tip - the belly dancer at Café ZigZag.

The Carry On series was a long-running comedy film franchise, known for its slapstick humour.

Although primarily a film series, it also included stage shows, television specials, and a television series.

The films, produced between 1958 and 1978, with a revival in 1992, featured a recurring ensemble cast that included actors such as Kenneth Williams, Sid James, Joan Sims, Charles Hawtrey, and Barbara Windsor.

As well as being a panto and a TV actress Anita is also a singer.

Her debut album Somebody's In My Orchard was released in 1966.

It included the single Just Loving You which was written by Dusty Springfield's brother Tom.

The song reached number six in the UK charts and number 120 in the US Pop chart.

Anita has even starred in Celebrity MasterChef back in 2018.

She competed against other stars such as Gemma Collins, Carol Decker and AJ Pritchard.

John Partridge ended up snatching the trophy for that series.
