An exclusive LGBTQIA+ cruise to Antarctica is due to set sail in February 2025 featuring wildlife encounters and chilly plunges into polar waters.

An expedition cruise to Antarctica via the Drake Passage, exclusively for the LGBTQIA+ community, will be setting sail from February 6-14 2025. The cruise will include whale watching, opportunities to see penguin colonies, hiking to remote vantage points across the mountains and on deck jacuzzies and events.

The nine-day cruise also includes a one-way charter flight from King George Island to Punta Arena, Chile and end with a morning in Patagonia before a farewell breakfast. The cruise will take place on the Greg Mortimer — a world-first new-class ship that allows passengers to go closer to the environment.

The cruise will have just over 100 passengers across 76 cabin — all with ocean views. The ship also features a modern lecture lounge, multiple observation areas, zodiac launching platforms, a restaurant, a gym, a sauna, jacuzzies and a mudroom. In addition, 85% of cabins have their own balcony.

The itinerary starts in Ushuaia, Argentina. Days three and four will be spent crossing the Drake Passage and days five, six and seven will be spent in the Antarctic Peninsula. On the eight day passengers will fly from King George Island, Antarctica, to Punta Arenas, Chile, where they will spend the final day.

In addition to seeing wildlife and ice glaciers, passengers will also have the opportunity to board a catamaran and sail the Beagle Channel, towards the city’s iconic Les Eclaireurs Lighthouse, attend a lecture programme to learn more about Antarctica’s history, wildlife and environment, visit penguin rookeries, discover historic huts and explore some of our favourite spots along the Antartic Peninsula.

For those who are a little more daring, there is the chance to take a polar plunge, where passengers will fully immerse themselves in the Antarctic waters. The cruise plans to give passengers two or three excursions a day, in addition to a comprehensive onboard activity offering.

On top of the cruise stay itself, airport transfers mentioned in the itinerary are included, as well as hotel accommodation on days one and eight. The Captain’s Farewell reception including four-course dinner, house cocktails, house beer and wine, non-alcoholic beverages, is also included. Each passenger will also receive a polar jacket.

All rooms also include a telephone, 42' flat screen TV, in room personal safe, individual closet space, desk area and chair, personalised lighting features, plenty of storage space, alarm clocks, a small range of light reading and polar inspired artworks.

Prices start from $9,850 (£7,761.80) per person, for a cabin shared between three people. The most expensive cabin, which would be shared between two people, will cost passengers $18,850 (£14,853.80) per person.
