Prince William left Hollywood icon Kevin Costner gobsmacked when he revealed that his late mother, Princess Diana, had a bit of a soft spot for him. The actor, famed for his roles in 'Dances With Wolves' and 'The Bodyguard', was taken aback during a private meeting with the Royal several years ago.
Costner, now 69, was on a trip to the UK when he received an unexpected invitation from Prince William. Recounting the extraordinary encounter to PEOPLE magazine, Costner said: "I happened to be in England, and I got this message that the prince would love to talk, and I said, 'What? '... and then I went, 'Okay,' ".

During their one-on-one, the Prince of Wales hit Costner with the revelation about his mother's secret admiration. "We met in this room, and it was just us," Kevin shared. "He walked up, and we shook hands... The first line out of his mouth was, 'You know, my mum kind of fancied you.'".
This bombshell came as quite the shock to the star, especially since it echoed a past interaction with Diana herself, where he had discussed her possibly starring in a sequel to his hit 1992 movie 'The Bodyguard', reports Gloucestershire Live.
Meghan Markle 'to unleash her own memoirs' as Prince Harry's drops next week"There was a moment that that was really flying down the tracks, very quietly, because it's how I operate," revealed Kevin Costner, sharing details of a nearly-happened meeting with Princess Diana. But it wasn't just any introduction; it was Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, who orchestrated the connection.
Kevin fondly remembered the setup, saying: "It was so sweet. Sarah was the one that set this up. Sarah was very cool... when she could have been going, 'Well, I'm a princess too. What about me? ' She didn't do that at all. Diana and I began to talk."
The Hollywood icon, known for his remarkable career spanning over four decades, has had his fair share of memorable moments, including winning two Oscars, three Golden Globes, and two Screen Actors Guild Awards. Costner describes his life journey as "incredibly unusual" and "for the most part, beautiful."
Despite his professional success, Kevin is also a dedicated father to seven children. Currently, he is believed to be single after his divorce from second wife Christine Baumgartner was finalised earlier this year.
