Prince Harry surprised his followers when he admitted he had indeed watched the popular royal drama series, The Crown.

The hit Netflix show looks back - and of course dramatises - the life of the Royal Family, including Harry himself. And the Duke of Sussex opened up on his thoughts on the series, revealing he even fact-checked it.

The series started with Queen Elizabeth II's marriage to Prince Philip and Harry got candid about his viewing habits in his memoir, Spare. He further explained his thoughts during a chat with talk show host Stephen Colbert on The Late Show in 2023.

He revealed: "Yes, I have actually watched The Crown. The older stuff and the more recent stuff."

In 2021, he also admitted to watching the show as he told James Corden: "It gives you a rough idea about what that lifestyle, what the pressures of putting duty and service above family and everything else, what can come from that."

However, his enjoyment of watching the series didn't last and a source explained as the show started discussing his immediate family members, he stopped watching. The insider claimed he turned off as it felt "too close to the bone to be enjoyable".

Harry has been extremely vocal on his opinions about his family since quitting his role as a senior royal in 2020. As well as TV appearances, his explosive memoir put further strain on his relationship with the firm as he hit out at a number of members, notably his dad, King Charles, and brother, Prince William.

However, it's thought Charles could welcome his youngest son back into the fold, but only if he is given a firm guarantee.

A royal expert told The Mirror the monarch would be open to a reconciliation. Tom Quinn claimed: "King Charles would love to be closer to Harry and to have a relationship with his son that actually works. But this depends on Harry giving his father cast-iron guarantees that there will be no more books and no more embarrassing interviews."
