There is still no reunion - but Oasis have today confirmed a new album with a 30th Anniversary Edition of Definitely Maybe featuring unheard tracks.
The news will delight fans of Noel and Liam Gallagher, even though what they definitely want is for the pair to get on stage together. Definitely Maybe (30th Anniversary Deluxe Edition) features tracks from the discarded original recording session at Monnow Valley Studios, along with outtakes from the definitive album recorded at Sawmills Studios in Cornwall, newly mixed for the first time by Noel Gallagher and Callum Marinho.
The album also includes an unreleased demo version of Sad Song. Originally released as a bonus track on the LP with Noel singing, this alternative version features Liam Gallagher’s vocals. The package also features brand-new artwork by the original art designer Brian Cannon for Microdot and original sleeve photographer Michael Spencer Jones, plus new sleeve notes from Creation Records boss Alan McGee and journalist Hamish MacBain.
Before the album was released in August 1994 the band initially struggled to record an LP which captured their on stage energy. Liam Gallagher, Noel Gallagher, Paul ‘Bonehead’ Arthurs, Paul McGuigan and Tony McCarroll decamped to Monnow Valley studios on the Welsh borders of Monmouthshire.
The album first came out in August 1994 (Redferns)But at the time, the initial recordings felt overly technical and polished, failing to capture the essence of the band. The sessions were ultimately scrapped, and the band moved to the remote confines of Sawmills Studios in Cornwall to re-record the album. With Owen Morris joining to complete the definitive mixes, the iconic Definitely Maybe was born.

The Definitely Maybe (30th Anniversary Deluxe Edition) album is available to pre-order now on Limited-Edition Deluxe 4LP and Deluxe 2CD formats plus exclusive coloured vinyl inspired by the lyrics. It will be released on August 30. It will also be available on Limited-Edition blue cassette and digital formats. All formats include the 2014 remastered version of the album.
Eagle eyed fans have spotted teasers on the social media channels of Oasis earlier this week hinting at a new release. These included a short video of a boat heading along some water. It turned out to be The Sawmills Studio in its idyllic creekside home near Fowey, Cornwall, where much of the album was recorded.
Fans of Oasis have been hoping the band would reunite this year for the 30th anniversary of debut album Definitely Maybe. But it hasn't happened and instead Liam will tour playing songs from the album, with original Oasis guitarist Paul 'Bonehead' Arthurs joining him on stage.
