Anita Harris has revealed she was rushed to hospital.

The Carry On icon, 82, took to X, formerly known as Twitter to share a medical update with fans after being forced to pull out of an awards show. Anita, who has also appeared in the likes of Casualty and EastEnders had been due to appear at the Pantomime Awards on Wednesday (June 19).

Taking to X in view of her 5,000 followers, the actress said: "Apologies to my fellow panto buddies at the Pantomime Awards this evening. Had a bit of a mishap in the High Street, tripped whilst dodging a child’s buggy but luckily kind-hearted people came to my aid.

"Currently on my way out of hospital, but I'll be back on my feet in no time! 'Oh yes I will!' My love and thanks for all the support. Anita x," alongside a praying and red heart emoji. Her post was soon flooded with well wishes from her adoring fans, with one writing: "A speedy recovery Anita."

"Hope you get better quickly Anita but as Michael Jackson once said Don't Blame it on the Buggy," said a second. Meanwhile, a third went on to write: "Can I take this opportunity to send you my best wishes For a speedy recovery, I spent many a Sunday afternoon of my childhood at My grandmother's house watching the Queen mother's 90th birthday gala on. Repeat in which You sang Burlington Bertie."

A fourth added: "Prayers for a Godspeed recovery, Lovely Anita - seeing you fully recovered, back up and active, and shining brightly as you always do!" Elsewhere, a fifth stunned fan typed: "So sorry to hear that Anita. I hope you are OK and you will be soon out of hospital. You can't keep a trooper down for long. Sending love and take care."

Anita's fall comes days after she appeared on Good Morning Britain to discuss the song which she is releasing in tribute of her late husband, Mike Margolis, in aid of Alzheimer's Research UK. Anita, who tragically lost her husband Mike one year ago, started the interview by comforting Kate Garraway, 57, who tragically lost her own husband Derek Draper earlier this year. The two shared a very poignant moment when Anita said: "How precious this moment is to see you after seeing you go through everything and darling, Ed [Balls], you're wonderful for all the viewers.

"But for me, I was a bit parallel with you [Kate] darling, but we're not here to, we're here to bring joy" while Kate responded: "We're not going to cry, we're not going to cry, are we? We're not going to cry because we want hope."
