An excitable Prince Louis was the star of the show at this year’s Trooping the Colour ceremony – as he was spotted dancing, playing with curtain cords, and pretending to fall asleep during the festivities.

The six-year-old amused crowds at the event on Saturday, June 15, who at one point became drenched, as torrential rain and blustery winds hit the capital, causing a sea of umbrellas to fill the Mall outside Buckingham Palace. Now a lip reader has revealed a sweet moment of concern expressed by the young prince as he chatted with his older sister Princess Charlotte, suggesting he is growing up.

Louis, who noticed several people had braved the heavy downpours without an umbrella was seen remarking to Charlotte, "They're going to get wet!" Earlier, Charlotte was seen taking charge by telling Louis to concentrate on the parade. She said: "You have to stop doing that. Watch the parade." In response, Louis shrugged his shoulders and replied: "I won't", to which Charlotte replied: "Do as you're told." Prince Louis simply replied: "Nope!"

The young Royal was also spotted letting out a big yawn and playing with a window blind cord as he watched the military parade. Body language expert Adrianne Carter said his behaviour highlighted his "lovely" and "bright" personality. She explained: "This is a sign that Louis is still the lovely and bright personality that we've come to recognise. Louis' big yawn was unspotted by Kate so he was able to give it his all!"

As the event progressed, the prince became more entertained and at one point even began dancing. Adrianne added: "He looks like he's enjoying himself a bit more! Hands behind his back is something he's obviously been told to do, maybe to help him stop fidgeting. It looks like Charlotte spotted his little dance and told him to calm it down maybe."

The Trooping the Colour ceremony also marked the Princess of Wales' first public appearance in months. Kate stepped back from the spotlight in January and later shared her cancer diagnosis. But amid ongoing treatment, she felt well enough to join the rest of the royal family for the annual military event - to the delight of fans worldwide.
