Bryson DeChambeau is disappointed to be missing out on the Olympics again

Bryson DeChambeau has pledged to bounce back after missing out on another Olympics, setting his sights on the Games in four years.

The American golf star is currently riding high following his impressive victory at the US Open in Pinehurst. However, DeChambeau has been unable to secure a spot on the American team for the upcoming Games in Paris. As a LIV Golf player, DeChambeau can only earn ranking points through major tournaments and he hasn't amassed enough to join the US squad in France.

In Olympic golf, each country can be represented by a maximum of four players. The US team will be made up of world number one Scottie Scheffler, US PGA champion Xander Schauffele, No.5 Wyndham Clark and world No.7 Collin Morikawa, with DeChambeau sixth on the list.

As tensions continue to simmer in golf, with LIV and the two main tours attempting to find a way to co-exist, DeChambeau has expressed his deep disappointment at missing out on the Olympics once again. The 30-year-old was forced to sit out the delayed Tokyo Games three years ago after testing positive for Covid.

"I've done my best up until now to give myself a chance according to the [world ranking], but I realise and respect where the current situation of the game is, albeit it's frustrating and disappointing," DeChambeau admitted ahead of the LIV Golf event in Nashville.

However, DeChambeau is already targeting the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles, where he hopes to represent Team USA in a potentially transformed golfing landscape. He said: "Hopefully 2028 will be a little different situation, and it will make it that much sweeter.

"I have always loved representing Team USA, whether it's been the world team amateur [Eisenhower Trophy], the Walker Cup, Ryder Cup, Presidents Cup. It's been some of the greatest moments of my life. Anytime you get a chance to represent your country, I'm all for it.

"This time around, it's disappointing, but I understand the decisions I made, and the way things have played out has not been necessarily perfectly according to plan."
