The Hatters have applied to Stockport Council to demolish the east stand and replace it.

Their proposal would see around 7,000 seats added to the 11,000-capacity venue.

Stockport have played at Edgeley Park since 1902, with the stadium first opened 11 years earlier.

Their home also hosted rugby union's Sale Sharks between 2003 and 2012.

Additional plans for Edgeley Park include refurbishing and extending the north stand.

Meanwhile, County are seeking permission for a new south stand on the site.

New food, drink and hospitalities are also part of plans, along with improving the accessibility at the stadium for disabled fans.

Their League Two title triumph clinched a third promotion in six seasons after ending their 11-year stint in non-league in 2022.
