Abbey Clancy was once a top England WAG but the mum-of-four isn't really bothered about watching matches these days - preferring to catch up on Love Island.

The Scouse model, 38, is married to former England international Peter Crouch and shares four kids with the retired sports star. While ex Liverpool striker Peter may have cheered on Gareth Southgate's boys from the Isle of Wight Festival last night, Abbey had other things on her mind.

Speaking to Chris Evans on Virgin Radio this morning, Abbey delivered a savage piece of advice for the national team following their lacklustre performance in Germany last night. The Britain's Next Top Model alum admitted to the veteran DJ that she was unaware the game against Denmark was happening!

"I didn’t even know it was on. Peter actually performed his podcast before the game at the Isle of Wight festival in the big top," she explained to Chris. "I couldn’t go because it was my son’s school play and he was very excited. So I stayed home and we had an impromptu playdate with a few of the mums. Bizarrely, one of them is also an ex-England player’s wife and we were oblivious to the whole thing. We were waiting for Love Island."

Chris then asked: "Did Pete say anything about the match? Any tips for Gareth Southgate if he’s listening?" Abbey jokingly replied: "Maybe ‘Score more goals’?" After Chris pushed the model on how England can get the ball in the back of the net more, Abbey diplomatically stated: "We’ve got a great team. Pete seems to think we’ve got an amazing team. Jude [Bellingham] and [Phil] Foden. We’ve got a great team!"

Abbey's comments comes as it's revealed that England boss Gareth Southgate seemingly hoping to lift his team's spirits by inviting the WAGs into camp.Earlier this week, it was revealed that Southgate planned to welcome the WAGs into England's training base after each group game, a break from the usual strict protocols. This decision came ahead of last night's disappointing draw.

Following the 1-1 draw against Denmark, under-fire Southgate appears to be bending his own rules even further. The England boss is now allowing his players to spend 24 hours with their WAGs and families today. The England football stars are currently staying in a secluded luxury resort, providing them with maximum privacy. The team had scheduled a brief break with their partners after the second match, a plan set before the tournament began.

However, England's uncertain result against Denmark means their qualification is still not guaranteed, despite hopes of securing their position as Group C winners by this weekend. All partners and wives, including Lewis Dunk's girlfriend Abi Yaxley, Jordan Pickford's wife Megan Davison, and Ollie Watkins' partner Ellie Alderson, have been invited to join the England camp. However, it's unclear whether Annie Kilner, Kyle Walker's wife, who reportedly preferred to fly in and out of Germany for each game, will be part of the weekend gathering.

Southgate has opted for a swanky golf resort as the team's base, complete with first-class amenities but tucked away in a quiet location. Southgate is taking a relaxed stance on family visits, with players' partners and kin already seen joining in post-match celebrations in Gelsenkirchen last Sunday.

Family members were welcomed to the camp on Monday after England's opening game against Serbia, and this hospitable policy will be maintained throughout the tournament, including after the final game in Cologne. This laid-back approach is a far cry from the media circus at Baden Baden in 2006, with many families choosing not to stay close by, despite being invited to visit.
