Eagle-eyed fans have spotted Cole Palmer appearing to give boss Gareth Southgate the cold shoulder after England's draw with Denmark.

Palmer has been an unused substitute in both of the Three Lions games at Euro 2024 so far. That is despite the 22-year-old having scored 22 goals and notched 11 assists in his first campaign with Chelsea.

Instead, Bukayo Saka, Phil Foden, Jarrod Bowen and Eberechi Eze are the four wingers to have been handed game-time so far. It appears that Palmer may be frustrated with his lack of action.

After the game, TV cameras picked up Southgate as he walked across the pitch. The England boss attempted to shake hands with Palmer, though the Chelsea star barely looked him in the eye.

England fans were sympathetic towards Palmer for his apparent frustration. One wrote: "I'd be p***** too." Another added: "Well I don't blame him." A third said: "The right reaction… let him know dead on he lack respect for his game."

There were even calls for Southgate to be sacked for his snub of Palmer. One fan said: "May as well sack Southgate now. Never going to win anything with him there. Wasting so much talent. Worst manager in football history."

Southgate is refusing to make excuses for his side's poor performance so far at Euro 2024. He admitted that they have pleny of work to do if they want to fulfil their tag of being one of the favourites to win it.

"Clearly not what we would have hoped [for]. We're not using the ball well enough and we have to accept that if you do that you will suffer at times as we have tonight. We know there's another level we have to find," he said.

"I think we've played teams that are quite fluid in back threes and it's not easy to get pressure on them but we've got to do that better than we have in these last two matches. Not keeping the ball has been another problem.

"We know people will be disappointed with our performances. At the moment we are not pressing with the intensity that we need to and that's meaning we are having to sit be a bit deeper.

"They are the problems and we need to find the solutions. We need to asses the two performances and work through it together. If you allow players to pick passes then they can play passes which can hurt you."
