Embarking on an affair might sound exciting, but it can all come crashing down in an instant.

We all know that cheating is universally frowned upon, but that doesn't stop people from being lured into it, often because it seems appealing at the time. But one woman has found out that even the most stereotypical love affairs aren't all they're cracked up to be - and can often end in disaster.

In an anonymous post on X (formerly Twitter), the woman claimed she had been having an affair with her boss, and everything had started perfectly. She described it as the kind of romance "you see in films", and said her boss would shower her with gifts and take her to posh hotels.

But there was just one catch with the affair, and it was so bad it gave the woman the ick. What's more, it's something that only ever comes up when the pair actually have sex - putting a dampener on the whole point of the affair.

She confessed in a post shared by Fesshole, writing: "Having an affair with my boss. One of those like you see in films and TV where he takes me to nice hotels and buys me lingerie. Except for when we're having sex he still only wants to talk about work. Even the steamy affair isn't enough to stop him constantly bringing up work."

Commenters on the post couldn't help but poke fun at the woman's unfortunate predicament. Some told her to make sure she logs their romps as "overtime" for all the waffling he does about work, while others said she should hit him with the classic: "This meeting could have been an email."

One person wrote: "If he's talking to you about work stuff outside of office hours make sure that you put it down as overtime," while another posed an important question, asking: "Does he give you a performance review after each session?"

Someone else pointed out it's "not rare" for work-based affairs to end like this, as it becomes apparent that "in reality, you have nothing in common outside of work and raw lust".
