Taylor Swift fans heading to the pop star's dates at London's Wembley Stadium have been warned of travel chaos.

The Bad Blood hitmaker, 34, is set to play her first date in the capital on Friday evening as part of her 21-month-long Eras world tour. She will be performing a trio of shows in London following her dates in Edinburgh at the Murrayfield Stadium, Liverpool's Anfield and Cardiff’s Principality Stadium.

Taylor will take to the stage for her three-hour-long performance on June 21, 22 and 23. She will be back in August for a further five shows at Wembley on 15, 16, 17, 19 and 20. Fans have already arrived at Wembley ahead of tonight's performance. However, others have been warned about chaos on the railways.

Fans have been warned that Chiltern Railways is making extra stops at Wembley Stadium on Friday, but its trains will not call there at all on Saturday and Sunday. They have said their services into London Marylebone will be busier than usual due to engineering works on the Birmingham to Euston line.

It means they would not have the capacity for concert-goers. Swift fans have been told there are two alternative stations nearby to the 90,000-capacity stadium. Wembley Park is about 0.5 miles from the venue and is served by London Underground’s Jubilee and Metropolitan lines.

Wembley Central is a mile away, which would take about 20 minutes to walk. It is on the Bakerloo underground line as well as the London Overground, which runs between Watford Junction and London Euston. Busses are also offering routes into Wembley, with several on London's bus network stopping close to Wembley Arena.

Chiltern Railways said Taylor Swift's Friday show would be catered for with "an enhanced timetable during the afternoon and evening, with additional Wembley Stadium stops in trains, and also some additional trains". They added: "Engineering works mean that the route between Birmingham New Street and London Euston is closed and thousands of additional customers will be using Chiltern trains for their journeys this weekend.

"We are putting on additional and longer trains as Chiltern will be the only rail route operating between London and Birmingham. It isn’t possible to also run extra services for the concerts because we don’t have the number of trains needed."

Fans travelling by train on East Midlands Railway and Thameslink have been warned there are no services into London St Pancras on June 23 due to engineering works. Work is taking place between London St Pancras International and Luton, Bedford and also between London St Pancras International and London Bridge, closing all lines.

All East Midlands Railway trains will start and terminate at Wellingborough on a reduced timetable. Thameslink trains will not run through central London between London St Pancras International, Finsbury Park and London Blackfriars, London Bridge. There will also be no trains running between London St Pancras International and Luton and Bedford. Passengers have been told to use the London Underground and bus services to travel across central London.

East Midlands Railway, external said: "If you are travelling from the north to London, you should travel on rail replacement buses from Wellingborough to Milton Keynes Central for Avanti West Coast, and London Northwestern Railway rail services into London Euston."
