Tottenham are in pole position to land Feyenoord defender Lutsharel Geertruida - after new Liverpool manager Arne Slot told his Anfield bosses that he was reluctant to make a Dutchman his first signing.
Geertruida, 23, who played for the Netherlands against France in the Euros on Friday night, is one of Europe’s hottest young properties and is also attracting interest from Paris Saint-Germain and RB Leipzig.
Sources in Holland have suggested Slot is a big admirer of a player who is valued at £25million by his Rotterdam-based club.
But after seeing Erik ten Hag get criticised for talking so many Eredivisie players with him to Manchester United, his reluctance to make the deal happen quickly has opened the door for Spurs.
The London club watched Geertruida regularly last season and are hoping he opts for the English capital ahead of Paris. PSG also have the central defender, who can also play at right-back and as a holding midfielder, on their radar but they need to wait for the sale of two other defensive players before launching a bid.

Leipzig tried to land Geertruida last summer when they had a £25million bid rejected. Feyenoord wanted £10million more to make the deal happen but have accepted they will have to slash their valuation now that Geertruida has just 12 months left on his contract.
