Spanish superstar Lamine Yamal is being touted for a world record transfer move to Paris Saint-Germain this summer.

The 16-year-old has set the world alight this past season with Barcelona as well as Spain during Euro 2024 as he's become an important part of the national side who've already qualified for the knockout stages of the tournament.

Thanks to his exploits, the winger is the heavy favourite to claim the Golden Boy award this year and the creator of the prize, Massimo Franchi, claimed that the teenager has all the capabilities to become Kylian Mbappe 's replacement at PSG in what he said would be a world-record fee.

"I wouldn't be surprised if one day, perhaps on 31 August, the newspapers announce that he will be Kylian Mbappé's replacement at Paris Saint-Germain," Franchi said to TZ. "Possibly even at a price that surpasses the previous transfer record of €222million that PSG paid for Neymar. Perhaps the French club will snap up Yamal for €250million. This is something that has been on my mind lately."

While Yamal's release clause sits at €1billion, Franchi suggested that Barcelona's financial issues could cause them to accept a lower bid for their La Masia graduate.

"When I think of a future superstar, I can only think of Lamine Yamal. His termination clause at FC Barcelona is one billion euros. But Barça has financial problems," he remarked. "I recently asked Nasser Al-Khelaifi who he would like to sign next. He said that the only big star next season will be coach Luis Enrique. But in this case I don't believe him. PSG have too much money.

"The temptation is too great to use it. And I think the temptation will prevail in the end. 'I can resist everything except temptation', as Oscar Wilde said."

The Spaniard has yet to score his first Euros goal but assisted Dani Carvajal in Spain's opening 3-0 victory over Croatia before playing 71 minutes in their 1-0 triumph over Italy in their second group game.
